SIR – I know that the Canals and Rivers Trust do a good job in maintaining our water ways to the best of their ability, but they themselves are a charity, obliged to raise funds whenever possible so are limited in their scope.
But reporter Ian Craig’s article (Worcester News, August 13) regarding the CRT’s plan to up the Cathedral Ferry’s licence to more than £13,000 a year beggars belief.
I sincerely hope that common sense will prevail.
How can a rowing boat (run for charity) be compared with 250-seater boats plying for trade up and down the river?
Surely this charitable cause which has been running now for more than 30 years thanks to Mark Glossop and Eddie Rogers must be allowed to continue.
