SIR – Re George Cowley’s letter ‘Say no to fracking’ (Worcester News, August 6).

I am not even sure about this myself.

However, I have been looking at reports on this from the USA.

They have hundreds of places all over the USA where this has happened and only one place has been affected by the water problem – and they are not even sure about that.

And as regards earthquakes, there has only been one small shudder and that was in an earthquake area. Once again they were not sure it was caused by fracking.

We need a great amount of power in the UK, especially if we are to get back to a manufacturing base.

The USA and China have the cheapest fuel now, so much so that in the USA it is making manufacturing turn out highly competitive products due to saving 37 per cent on fuel costs thanks to fracking.
