Whatever next? Then there are all the directives which keep pouring down on a regular basis obstructing our meagre progress to get out of the worst depression since the 1930s.

And while we have been promised a vote on whether we should be in or out of Europe by the main parties, it has never happened.

The time has never been right, and now we are promised a vote in 2017, but, of course, only if we vote the Prime Minister back in office in 2015.

While millions more are having to resort to the use of food banks to satisfy their hunger, because it would seem they haven’t the resources to buy food, the Government is giving £12 billion to support the needs of other countries in poverty.

Again, according to Friday’s Daily Mail, £1 billion of our cash will go to help Nigeria join the space race. What is going on?

Millions are threatened with water meters now because, as I see it, successive governments have allowed migration to this country to escalate out of control and no account has been taken of the amount of water which needs retaining to supply these new estates which need to be built to house them.

The last reservoir to be built of any consequence, to my memory, was in the 1960s in north Wales and Worcester, being a county borough then contributed, I recall, £10,000.

I was a member of the water and sewerage committee in those days and we were invited to inspect the completed dam, which we did, and it was very impressive.
