SIR – Brendan Rodgers was right. The FA should not have banned Luis Suarez for biting another player.
Suarez should have been given the following options: e Have his teeth removed e Wear a Hannibal Lecter mask e Wear a gum shield e Wear a toddler’s tether and run up and down the pitch tied to his mother who, whenever he throws a tantrum, could shove his teething ring back in before pulling down his pants to check his nappy to smack his bum.I’m sure attendances would rocket.
It’s a pity Suarez wasn’t a dog because being a serial biter he’d have been put down well before now.
As a retired primary schools meals and playground supervisor,I speak from long experience as a referee supervising the little ones playing football without the need for dirty dives or treacherous tackles.
I vividly remember one very excited little boy who had just scored a goal calling out to me: “Did you see that, Miss? I headed the ball with my knee.” God bless him.
