SIR – The disturbing behaviour of some youngsters at the Hive has been highlighted in the Press recently.
So the eight students from University of Worcester (Worcester News, April 24) who have set up a mentoring initiative is welcome news.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of parental control in some families and the frequent four-letter word to anyone raising any objection to bad behaviour, these students face an unwelcome task.
It is a sad thing that such a scheme is even necessary, but the security guards have not had much success to date.
One can only hope that the students’ efforts backed by security will achieve a happy medium.
The Hive welcomes all generations, but it is imperative that that this wonderful institution is not spoilt by a few.
In my youth we were welcomed at the library by silence. Today let it truly be welcome.
