SIR – Mrs [Margaret] Thatcher has left a legacy for today’s politicians to handle.
By selling off the council houses and not replacing them, there is now a shortage in the housing market.
That’s why today’s politicians are introducing this cruel, horrible bedroom tax instead of building more homes and moving people out of properties with high rents.
It’s the greedy landlords who should be sorted out and the Government should bring back the fair rents board.
Another legacy Mrs Thatcher has left is the amount of people living off the dole.
This Government is desperately trying to get them off the dole, but there are no jobs for them because Mrs Thatcher destroyed our manufacturing industries – shipbuilding, steelworks and coal mines.
The Thatcher government also sold off the utilities, which could have gone a long way to sorting our debt problem with the amount of money they can generate.
It was Mrs Thatcher who introduced the corporate greed and sooner or later some strong politician has got to put an end to this.
But there are things you can give credit to Mrs Thatcher for. She stood up to the bullies in the unions, she stood up to the IRA and she stood up against Argentina.
So that’s credit where it is due.
