SIR – I must reply to Roni Skye’s letter ‘Politicians, where are you? Come and see us’ (Worcester News, April 18) because for some reason I am the only allegedly negligent Claines candidate named by her.
There are more than 4,000 households in Claines division.
We call on people during and between elections, but cannot call on everyone every year.
In fact we canvassed Pinkett Street in 2009.
Perhaps Ms Skye was out or busy, or perhaps we took note of an earlier but successful contact from which we concluded that our visit was not welcome.
She asks what we can do to benefit her.
In fact, councillors have done a lot of casework in Pinkett Street.
Sometimes the problems are intractable; sometimes they involve conflicting interests, leaving someone unhappy.
However,I have had two notable successes in Pinkett Street that are public.
Some years ago, with difficulty,I persuaded Highways to put up ‘unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles’ notices at each end of the street.
Most recently, as can be seen in the very leaflet Ms Skye received, there is a story and a photograph about a pavement repair I arranged for Pinkett Street earlier this year.

County councillor, Claines
