SIR – Ifeel it was an absolute disgrace to recall Parliament to debate Margaret Thatcher’s death.
Apparently, MPs could claim up to £3,750 for attending.
Why, oh why couldn’t this debate have taken place when Parliament reconvened?
The whole event came across as a rather poorly staged attempt of political promotion for the Tories and certainly not as a show of respect for Margaret Thatcher.
No wonder poor Nick Clegg looked rather uncomfortable.
If the MPs who attended were genuine in their views about showing respect then they should not be claiming the £3,750 attendance allowance.
Those who do claim should donate the money to a worthy charity.
