SIR – It is with great annoyance that I read in the Labour Party’s Battenhall and St Peter’s News (the election edition) that someone called Adam Scott, a candidate in the county council elections, is claiming that Worcester Community Trust has “taken over the management of St Peter’s Village Hall”.
As one of the three directors of St Peter’s Village Hall Association Ltd, I wish to inform Worcester News readers, and the residents of St Peter’s, that this is absolutely untrue.
The management of the hall remains firmly in the hands of the directors and a management committee and not with Worcester Community Trust.
If the Labour Party had researched their information more carefully they would have found that only day-today activities such as room bookings and cleaning are undertaken by WCT on our behalf through a service level agreement.
Worcester Community Trust, like St Peter’s Village Hall Association Ltd, is a non-political organisation and I consider it disgraceful that the Labour Party should seek to make political capital from such organisations; particularly when they get their facts so wrong.
Worcester Community Trust is doing a first-class job for us and, on behalf of the directors, we will not allow this manipulation to weaken our relationship.
G BENSON
Director, St Peter’s Village Hall Association Ltd
