SIR – With reports and pictures suggesting that the driver for Chancellor George Osborne parked the Land Rover in a clearly signed disabled bay, it prompts me to ask a question.
Why it is when the disabled symbol is universal, that among many other drivers of different ages I also see taxis and private cars driven by men and women of different ages parking in disabled spaces without displaying a blue badge, particularly in supermarket car parks?
As the disabled symbol is universal, there can be no mistakes by anyone, so is it disrespect for the disabled, or a disregard by anyone for a duty of care for those who are disabled and genuinely need the parking spaces?
