SIR – I was struck by the difference between M Dalebo’s letter ‘It’s going to get worse for our children’ (Worcester News, March 21), and the column by Harriett Baldwin MP ‘We need an immigration policy that works for us… and we have’ on the same page.
Our history is littered with inventive genius – we don’t need to import the skills we need. We need to give our own a chance.
Thirty-plus graduates chase every graduate job.
Why give those jobs to foreigners? And if our own graduates don’t possess the skills we need, why isn’t the Government managing education to provide the skills the nation needs at all levels?
And why did our MPs mess up so badly that they let money-grubbers set up hundreds of bogus colleges to profit from bogus immigrant students coming here to take our jobs instead of studying?
Harriett Baldwin and her ilk are presiding over a growing ecological disaster.
We cannot feed even 40 million from our own resources, yet we shall soon have 80 million living here.
If our population had to rely upon the renewable resources the nation possesses, our national population would have to be reduced to that of Central London – about 10 million.
That’s how big is the difference between our population and the nation’s renewable resources.
Doesn’t that make our population unsustainable when set against a rapidly growing global population and increasing global food shortages?
Doesn’t that make building millions more houses for millions more immigrants raving bonkers?
