SIR – It was a great surprise to read that at the age of 19 I approached Worcester City Council to hold a pop concert on Pitchcroft (Nostaligia, Worcester News, March 25).
Reading on,I noticed that Michael Grundy led the reader to think that we only held one concert on Malvern Common.
However, although initially the Malvern Hills Conservators refused a repeat Common concert in 1973, they then went on a while later to allow us to stage the event, and we again held one the following year.
Although we never staged a concert in Worcester, we did make several inquiries, including to the cricket club.
I still have many of the letters regarding the organising of these events, which were staged totally free, with the help of local businesses.
We only had to pay for the publicity and fuel for the generators.
I had a great team behind the organising and staging of these events.
There were photos in the Worcester News at the time and Mike Pryce reported on all the concerts. Thanks for mentioning it.
