SIR – This is a picture, above, of County Nalgo FC in the 1960s.
That’s me in the back row, right – I’m 5ft 8in – looking like the mascot as half the players were policemen.
From our HQ at the Bell in Droitwich Road, Worcester, we used to run to Hindlip Police HQ to see who was available that Saturday and then run back for the team to be selected.
Our results often depended on how many bobbies were in the team.
Back row, from left, Dave Brockway (I think), Bernard Willis, Derek Turner, Don Young (I think), Derrell Perrett, Phil Pegler. Front row, from left, John Hartley, Graham Meredith, Don Foulkes, Ron Ashby and Howard Watkins.
