SIR – I read with interest the comment by Steve Rhodes, Worcestershire County Cricket Club director of cricket, concerning the forthcoming season at New Road (Worcester News, March 12).
He said last season is history and it hurt getting relegated.
That may be the case but I am surprised he did not mention the long-term members and supporters who have, over the last few years under his direction as director of cricket, seen some of the most dismal displays in the club’s recent history.
I make these remarks because I know, personally, two long-term members who will not be renewing their membership due to the team’s performance last season.
As for another of his comments – “the daffodils are out and we will soon be smelling cut grass and the season will be upon us”.
May I remind Mr Rhodes that the daffodil season is finished at the end of April, but one thing is for sure, they will return next year full of promise, fresh and a pleasure to see.
Will the present Worcestershire team have the same qualities this coming season?
We, the loyal members and supporters, hope so but we will wait and see.
