SIR – I was somewhat surprised by the sentiments expressed by James Connell in his Fair Point column (Worcester News, March 12).

His castigation of some teenagers and some young mothers was an example of lazy, ill-informed thinking and not worthy of being printed in your newspaper.

He expressed stereotypical views usually seen in the right-wing press. Of course he may be in training to take over the rant that usually appears on a Saturday.

If you are going to sanction the printing of such vituperative attacks on people then the name of the column should be changed – there is nothing fair about this type of journalism.
