SIR – Well, well, so Labour leader Ed Miliband has admitted his party got it totally wrong on immigration and that Britain now needs to slash the number of low-skilled migrant workers to give Brits a fair crack of the whip.
This is what most of us have known for the past decade. Why has it taken a Labour leader so long to recognise this?
Or is this simply a cry for votes at the next election?
But Mr Miliband hasn’t actually said “sorry” – and he should.
There has been nothing in the past 30 years any more damaging than this opendoor policy by government and it hit and hurt working class people the most – the very people Labour are supposed to represent.
So Labour has said the party got it wrong but the leaders haven’t put any suggestions forward to stop it getting worse in the future.
