SIR – I recently paid a visit into town and parked in the multi-storey car park.
I walked over the City Walls footbridge, into New Street and on towards the Cornmarket.
I passed some Severn Trent workers who had dug a hole from which a large amount of water was flowing.
Ilooked for a drain into which it could flow.
The nearest drain was a distance away but when I looked there was no way anything could get away because it was almost full up.
Obviously, it had not been emptied for a long time.
I continued into Mealcheapen Street where I came out by a taxi parked at the top of the Shambles waiting for a space in the queue.
Passing along a line of taxis, Ifound it strange that they all had their engines running, even though some drivers were standing outside their cabs talking.
I went into M & M Meats and couldn’t believe that the taxi standing outside the shop still had its engine running, sending fumes into the shop.
Where is the consideration?
Does no one from the council go along this way to see what is happening?
Where are the health people or environmental department?
I’m baffled that this should be happening.
