SIR – Maxine Burgess (Worcester News, February 28) does not deny vegans make up less than a third of one per cent of the population.
Clearly they are a tiny minority but one that should be tolerated regarding their beliefs in our society.
Unfortunately, some in their ranks seem determined to force their doctrine on us all at almost any cost.
Such aggressiveness and detachment from reality is sadly doing their cause much harm.
Ms Burgess made allegations about sheep being left in a state of “neglect” and how an “inspector” viewed them and wrongly found them to be “well”.
Knowing the sheep, the farm, the witnesses and the inspector puts her at an advantage in getting this incident handled properly.
Surely the RSPCA, Defra, police and local authorities cannot all have failed to listen to her remonstrations.
The animal rights pressure group Vegetarians International Voices for Animals is a private limited company, not a registered charity.
The VIVA insignia appears on material from Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation, a small charity advising on diet.
The two organisations share the same address.
