SIR – The sums concerning the proposed new swimming pool don’t seem to add up (Worcester News, February 27).
If you look at the second option, they will be paying £5,000 a week to redeem the loan for 40 years.
They are currently losing at least £150,000 a year at Sansome Walk without paying off any such loan, so I am dubious that they can project a profit with such a poor track record.
The Citizens’ Pool at Lower Wick, on the other hand, trades in the black without subsidy, and has the distinction of having over 700 children to swimming lessons each week.
We could work wonders with an annual grant of £150,000.
