SIR – I attended the Worcestershire School Games last Thursday hosted by the University of Worcester and funded by the Sports Partnership and Sainsbury’s.
Can I congratulate Stephen Brewster and his staff, as well as the teams at St John’s sports centre and the university, for making this a hugely successful event.
The enthusiasm and commitment shown by them was evident in making children and parents welcome and feel at ease.
The games were tough and entertaining and I congratulate all those who took part.
In particular, Pitmaston School and Cherry Orchard Primary School boys and girls representing Worcester City in the sports hall athletics competition.
They performed brilliantly under pressure and all enjoyed the day.
I hope the partnership can carry on the good work and from the city’s point of view we are keen to promote and keen on preserving the Olympic legacy.
This event was an example of what can be achieved by co-coordinating our efforts.
Lastly,I would like to thank the teachers who coached the children.
They were more nervous than the competitors.
