SIR – I hope that developers in St Martin’s, Worcester, are going to make a contribution to the arts in the city.
I always understood that in the brief there was a promise of an arts and artists’ quarter.
This would attract more people to the city.
At the moment we have various small artists working in the city but a central area for working, selling and displaying their works would be great.
The Hopmarket has over the years attracted a number of artists but they don’t stay long because the public don’t find it an attractive place to visit due to the various antisocial behaviour that is encountered there.
If St Martin’s could provide small, economically priced units for the arts and crafts community it would provide a slight check and balance to the faceless national coffee shops and betting shops.
