SIR – Re the article in the Worcester News (January 26) regarding the story on the Gheluvelt Park memorial.

My partner was a bit miffed by the comment quote: “In fact, it’s a wonder these art pieces haven’t been nicked by the boys from the Black Country.”

My partner is a decent man, he’s from the Black Country and proud of it.

We thought it wrong to actually name the Black Country because it is known for the iron industry.

Mr [John] Phillpott, let me tell you: if these iron pieces are going to be nicked, it could be anyone from anywhere.
