SIR – About £60 million of taxpayers’ money is paid out in child benefits to children who do not live in the UK.
That’s £1 million every week to some 47,000 parents living in the EU, but not the UK.
It is staggering that this can be allowed.
No one can blame the people – it’s the system that is wrong and it needs a dramatic upgrade.
If, as a country, we offer such extravagant benefits then people will always look to accept them with open arms.
As a nation we must stop this charitable madness and enforce the rule: charity begins at home.
