Sir – I would like to take issue with George Cowley in reference to the female police officer who was convicted of drink-driving (Worcester News, January 21).

It is ridiculous to say let her off. You cannot as a police officer enforce the law on one hand and break it on the other. That is hypocrisy.

She should feel the full force of the law, as any member of the public would and if she loses her job then so be it.

If she is let off then the public respect for the police will be dealt another blow. Few of us have any respect for them as it is as some seem to be a law unto themselves.
