Sir – Due to the recent hazardous weather conditions, my wife and I, both in our 80s, booked a taxi for 8.45am to take us a mere eighth of a mile to our doctors’ surgery.

I struggled with a three-wheeled walker both in and out of the car, with no assistance from the driver.

We had a non-stop journey but with poor service and a fee of £4.50 we felt obliged to withhold a tip.
