A HOUSING association in Worcestershire has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Worcester News 100 in 100 apprentices campaign ever since it started.
Through its maintenance company Property Care Partnership, Festival Hous-ing Group, which has its headquarters in Malvern, has developed a well-established programme of recruiting and developing apprentices.
In 2010 the company took on 12 apprentices aged between 17 and 23.
Property Care Partnership director Rod Rhodes said: “Historically, Property Care Partnership had struggled to recruit electricians and through recruiting apprentices took positive action and employed a number of electrical apprentices.
“The plan was to train them up and give Festival a fantastic pool of talent to choose from. Many of these apprentices are now fully qualified and the great majority have remained with Property Care Partnership and are now taking lead roles in their teams.
“This has been a great success story and has meant the electrical side of Property Care Partnership has been developed with the organisation now able to under- take external work in this area as well the internal maintenance work.”
