APPRENTICES and students from North East Worcestershire College – one of the partners in the Worcester News-backed 100 in 100 apprentices campaign – and its training arm Unique Skills People gathered at Bromsgrove’s Holiday Inn for their annual awards ceremony.
These highly coveted awards acknowledged nominees and award winners for their significant achievements and successes in NVQs and apprenticeships.
Employers also received awards for their continued and ongoing support and encouragement to their learners and the college, which has campuses in Bromsgrove and Redditch.
Categories covered a diverse selection of areas, including social care, engineering, accountancy and hairdressing.
Special guest was Eve Pollard, former editor of the Sunday Mirror and the Sunday Express, who passed on her tips for career success.
One of the winners of the night was hairdressing and barbering apprenticeship achiever of the year Jasmine Smith, who works at Sculpture in Bromsgrove.
Her assessor Carol Fellows said: “Jasmine is a pleasure to teach. She brings fun and entertainment to the group but still keeps a high level of professionalism when working with clients who praise and compliment her work.”
NEW College principal John Callaghan said: “I was delighted to see so many employers at the event to share and celebrate the success of their employees and apprentices and to also help us to pay tribute to the college staff who have played their part in supporting the high achievements.
“I was extremely pleased that we had chosen a very relevant and experienced speaker in Eve Pollard – her journey is an inspiration to us all in what can be achieved with the right combination of skills and determination.”
