NATIONAL building contractor Speller Metcalfe has signed up for the Worcester News 100 in 100 apprentices campaign and is offering places to talented students from Worcester Technology College.
Organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, with support from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Worcestershire County Council, the campaign aims to have 100 Worcestershire firms taking on apprentices in 100 days.
Having recently been accepted into the West Midlands Contractor Framework, Speller Metcalfe, which has a base in Malvern, was keen to register for the scheme as soon as it was announced it looks to invest in future talent, initially focusing on carpentry and brickwork.
Joint managing director of the company Steve Speller said: “The 100 in 100 is a fantastic initiative and gives Speller Metcalfe an opportunity to provide talented trainees and apprentices with the chance to learn about the building and construction industry.”
Two students from Worcester College of Technology, Richard Booton and Miles Crabtree, have already been hired for Speller Metcalfe’s apprenticeship placements.
Frances Roberts, of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “It is great that Speller Metcalfe, a company known for investing in training for their workforce, is supporting the Worcestershire 100 in 100 campaign.”
More than 40 businesses have signed up so far. To get involved, visit worcester news.co.uk/100.
