A WORCESTER building firm that was only set up six years ago is in line for a major industry award.
Having won the commercial works category at the inaugural South Worcestershire Building Excellence Awards, Matthews Construction will now go forward to the regional finals of the Local Authority Building Control Services Awards in Bristol in June.
Run by brothers Chris and Rob Matthews, supported by their father Alan and mother Jenny, the Broadwas firm won its SWBE award for work on new facilities at the Cob House Fisheries at Wichenford, near Worcester.
Construction director Rob Matthews said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the award.
“It’s a great honour and we’d like to thank LABCS for nominating us and Helen and Rob Taylor, the owners of the Cob House Fisheries, for appointing us as their contractors. Being involved in a project of this nature was exciting and challenging.
“The finished building sits beautifully in its rural setting and provides a great venue for people to visit.
“The enhancement of the whole site facility for people with disabilities has led to the British Disabled Anglers Association rating the facilities as platinum standard and the British Olympic archery team may use the facilities in the build up to the 2012 games.”
The awards ceremony took place at the Fownes Hotel in Worcester.
The awards were designed to reward those committed to meeting building regulations and standards.
