A NEW fish and chip shop is opening in Worcester today on the site of a former takeaway.
Angel Plaice Restaurant, Angel Place, Worcester, will be opening its doors to takeaway and restaurant customers from 8.30am.
Owner Tracey Doherty said she and her partner Russell Cannon had been looking to buy a business for some time. "We looked into the background of this place and then I walked past it one day and it had a For Sale sign," she said. "We viewed it the next day, put an offer in the day after, and the day after that the offer was accepted.
"We are getting quite excited, the market traders and people walking past have been very interested.
"We have given the place a deep clean and have replaced the equipment."
The building used to house Huttons and later Britannia Fish and Chip Shops, but has been empty for seven years.
Angel Plaice will open Monday to Saturday, 8.30am-5.30pm, serving breakfasts, fish and chips and jacket potatoes.
