A PROPERTY developer is helping residents of a new housing development in Worcester to reduce its waste.
Berkeley Homes is building about 400 homes on the former Royal Worcester Porcelain site in Sidbury.
The properties, which will be ready for occupation in spring, have all been fitted with InSinkErator food waste disposers, following advice from Worcestershire County Council.
The move has been made to help residents keep the amount of waste they put in the bin to a minimum.
The use of food waste disposers is being encouraged in Worcester as a means of significantly reducing the amount of biodegradable waste being sent to the county's landfill sites.
Councillor Derek Prodger, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for the environment, said he supported the move. He said: "I am delighted that developers such as Berkeley Homes are taking responsibility for encouraging new residents to live sustainability."
