DROITWICH-based bin-maker Taylor has been awarded gold accreditation by the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO).

The YPO, a buyer for the public sector, introduced its supplier accreditation programme in April to ensure that all its suppliers meet the highest standards.

The independent auditing process, which looks into a wide range of areas, including quality, finance and safety, awarded Taylor an 81.99 per cent score, ranking the firm 63rd out of more than 500 organisations.

Dr David Gillett, sales and marketing director at Taylor, said: "Following the Gershon efficiency review, local authorities are increasingly grouping together to buy items in volume via organisations such as the YPO. We're delighted with our gold accreditation since it puts us in a strong position when competing for contracts.

Any organisation buying through the YPO knows at a glance that we have an excellent track record in key areas such as customer service, health and safety, and environmental and corporate responsibility."

Helen Wardman, YPO's procurement officer, said: "As an officially-recognised and high-scoring supplier to YPO, Taylor is clearly very well placed to respond to requests for quotations.

The company will also have the advantage of being able to fast track through the administration process."
