CALLING all building trade apprentices in Worcestershire, this is for you.

With a newly opened trade counter in Worcester, Screwfix, the UK's leading direct and online supplier of building, maintenance and refurbishment items to the trade, is working in conjunction with the Federation of Master Builders to find the 2007 Apprentice Of The Year.

As the co-sponsor of the award, Screwfix is calling on all the employers, customers, tutors and members of the CITB-Construction Skills regional teams to nominate apprentices who they feel represent the best young talent in the construction industry today.

Open to any UK apprentice, not just FMB members, the award carries a top prize of £1,000 which will be given to the apprentice who has been shown to have an outstanding ability and who offers a high level of skill in his or her chosen trade. Entrants will be judged on their overall performance and attitude, not the size or complexity of the work involved.

Simon O'Mahony, head of marketing at Screwfix, said: "As a company that has been supplying the trades for over 25 years, we believe it is important to both develop and keep the next generation of trades people motivated to work within the industry.

"We are proud to be associated with the Apprentice of the Year Award and would urge all those who are interested to obtain an entry form from the trade links section of our website at screwfix.com."

Entry forms can also be collected at the Screwfix Trade Counter, Worcester Trade Park, Sherriff Street, Worcester. Closing date for all entries is July 31, 2007, and the winners will be presented with their awards by Sarah Beeny, presenter of Channel 4's Property Ladder on November 8.
