MALVERN company TxtLocal has been named Best Local Business in a competition judged by Dragons' Den business guru Theo Paphitis.

Sponsored by UPS, the competition was organised by local radio stations around the UK.

TxtLocal was the winner in the Radio Wyvern region.

Alastair Shortland, operations director of TxtLocal, said: "The purpose of the competition was to recognise local businesses which deliver that little bit extra to their customers and community. It's a real coup to have someone of Theo Paphitis's standing pick us out as a winner, and we are absolutely delighted.

"We provide a full range of short message service text marketing and communications solutions for businesses wishing to instantly deliver any news or promotion to their customers. They can use our services to send texts to their customers within minutes or generate leads or income through using a short code. While we have many blue chip clients, a lot of our customers are smaller companies and organisations. SMS messaging is a fantastic way for local businesses and community groups to reach their audience in a targeted way.

"We offer the most accessible text message solution in the UK. Our goal is to revolutionise the SMS marketing industry and enable anyone to set up their own campaigns. We plan to do for SMS mobile marketing what Hotmail did for e-mail."

TxtLocal, based in Ashdown Rise, Malvern, won a free radio advertising campaign courtesy of Radio Wyvern.
