COMMUNICATIONS agency Superdream is getting into the festive spirit by helping young people at risk of homelessness at Christmas.

The agency, which is based at Stoke Prior, near Bromsgrove, has launched its Charitree campaign to raise money for St Basils homeless charity and to give something back to the local community at this special time of year.

Throughout December, a webcam is live streaming footage of the Charitree in the agency’s reception. The aim is to encourage people to click a link below the footage to add a bauble to the tree and for each bauble added, Superdream will donate £1 to the charity.

Jason Manning, Superdream managing director, said: “The response to the Charitree has been fantastic. We started off with a bare tree and now we already have more than 100 baubles adorning it. Our staff picked St Basils as the local charity we’d like to support this year and we hope we can give them a very special Christmas present by getting as many people to donate as possible. We’re hoping to get so many clicks that we can make the tree topple over live on air.”

Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising and communications at St Basils, added: "We absolutely love this idea and can’t thank the wonderful people at Superdream enough. The money raised is going to make such a difference to the lives of the young people we support. Let’s just hope the tree falls over under the weight of all the baubles.”

St Basils helps young people across Birmingham and its surrounding areas who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The charity provides 16-25 year olds with supported accommodation, and helps them to regain stability so that they can carry on with their education, get back in to work, and move on with their lives.
