HARRIETT Baldwin got into the festive spirit by doing some Christmas shopping to support Small Business Saturday.

The West Worcestershire MP dropped into a number of shops in Tenbury Wells town centre to look for seasonal gifts and chatted to retailers and shoppers.

Her visit was part of the Small Business Saturday national initiative, which aims to encourage people to shop local and use small retailers and traders for one weekend.

Mrs Baldwin said: "Many people know that I shop as often as I can in local stores across West Worcestershire and I encourage as many people as possible to do the same. Small business is the lifeblood of our economy, especially in West Worcestershire where we have seen so many business start-ups in recent years.

“While Small Business Saturday is an important national initiative to help support smaller retailers who have to compete with multi-national giants, it is important to remember that these shops need our support all year round. I will be making more visits to nearby small retailers in the run up to Christmas and hope that local people will do the same.”
