THE company behind Malvern Splash has received a top award for the quality of its operation.

Freedom Leisure, which runs Malvern Splash on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council, has received a gold standard at the 2015 UK Pool & Spa Awards.

These took place at the VOX Conference Centre in Birmingham's NEC Arena and recognise business growth and the range of water-based activities provided by the not for profit organisation.

Freedom Leisure’s aquatic business manager Alyson Zell said: "We’re delighted to have been awarded the gold standard. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our team as without their support it wouldn’t be possible for us to provide such a wide range of water-based activities and opportunities. 2016 will see us continue to build on our success, catering for even more community groups.”

Mark Hammond, contracts and performance manager for Malvern Hills District Council, added: “I am delighted that Freedom Leisure has been recognised for the high quality and wide range of aquatic activities that are available to the community including our own. On behalf of Malvern Hills District Council I would like to congratulate it on this award, which is highly deserved."

Freedom Leisure offers swimming classes for both children and adults, from the first introduction to water confidence and swimming to improving existing strokes and skills. Each year the company also takes part in a range of events to promote water safety and swimming. Last year staff and members raised£46,060.61 for Marie Curie cancer care charity
