KITCHENS Direct owner HomeForm has been sold to US private equity firm Sun Capital after struggling with challenging conditions in the home improvement market.
The firm is also the parent company of Moben kitchens, Sharps bedrooms and Dolphin Bathrooms. It has 160 showrooms across the UK and 2,000 staff.
Sun Capital bought the business for an undisclosed fee from fellow private equity firm Phildrew Ventures after KPMG was appointed to oversee a sale of the business in February.
HomeForm, which has distribution centres in Manchester and Wolverhampton, has wrestled with difficult trading conditions recently. The company posted a £19.4 million pre-tax loss on sales down 17 per cent in 2005.
