DROITWICH mother Lisa Pugh reckons she's got her finger on the pulse with her new children's business.

Using a combination of traditional jewellery making techniques and modern metal technology, Lisa has launched FingerPrints, which aims to provide parents with a unique keepsake of their offspring.

The child's fingerprints are captured on pieces of handcrafted jewellery in pure polished silver.

Each piece is inscribed by hand with the child's name for a unique and bespoke feel, leaving the parent with a timeless and lasting reminder of the child's early years.

Lisa began making the jewellery for herself and close friends, but soon realised she had found a niche market for people looking for alternative gifts for themselves or to give loved ones.

"Many new mums had seen the foot and hand casts widely available for newborns, but there seemed to be nothing as special for toddlers, children, teenagers or the young at heart," she said.

"The necklace I wore was such an unusual and stylish way of keeping a memory and it's become one of my most treasured possessions.

"It attracted so many compliments from friends and family that I decided to make my special jewellery full-time so that even more people can enjoy the idea.

"When I launched the website last month, the response was phenomenal. My jewellery was featured at the Baby Show in Excel in London and I've been approached by specialist gift companies who want to sell my unique items."

FingerPrint impressions can be taken in the comfort of your own home by using a simple impression putty which hardens in two minutes. This is then used to take a cast in Lisa's studio and she then gets to work on the chosen piece or pieces.
