ROZ Golds is obviously going far in the transport business. The 30-years-old from St John's Worcester was recognised by international transport organisation National Express Group when she was selected out of 42,000 employees worldwide to win one of its Values Awards for a project that has supported the armed forces all over the country and attracted praise from Prime Minister David Cameron.
Awards corresponding to each of the transport operator’s four core values – customer, safety, people and community - were presented at an event in London’s Cafe de Paris and Miss Golds, who commutes daily to the company’s headquarters in Birmingham, was presented with the overall award for the community category by group chief executive Dean Finch.
She is the head of media for National Express UK Coach and joined the business two years ago after working in Worcestershire County Council’s press team. The role sees her handling all public relations for the UK’s largest coach operator including National Express coaches, Eurolines, which serves destinations across Europe and North Africa, and The Kings Ferry, a coach network comprising commuting services and luxury vehicles.
Miss Golds was nominated by the firm’s director of policy and external affairs, for a project that saw her work with teams throughout the business deliver a package of benefits to support the UK’s armed forces. This groundbreaking initiative includes the UK’s largest travel discount for military personnel, guaranteed interviews for service-leavers for driving roles and additional leave for staff in the Territorial Army.
The project led to National Express being selected to become the first company in the UK to sign the Government’s Military Covenant and to the firm being praised by Prime Minister David Cameron at a special event at Number Ten Downing Street. Since its inception, other parts of the company, including the UK bus and train businesses have been inspired to design their own military projects and sign up to the government’s commitment to support the armed forces.
