IT'S "all cisterns go" for Worcester firm AndyLoos, which is backing amateur athlete Marcus Mumford in his attempt to set a Guinness world record for running the fastest London Marathon dressed as a toilet. But Bristol-born Marcus will need to ensure he’s quick out of the toilet blocks as there will be two other runners dressed as WCs also attempting to beat the time.
AndyLoos, based in Hartlebury, is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and providers of portable toilets and shower facilities, supplying convenient facilities at some of the UK’s biggest sporting events, as well as private and corporate functions.
The firm was bowled over when Marcus got in touch and immediately agreed to sponsor his world record attempt while dressed as a WaterAid’toilet. Marcus is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the global water charity, which works in 27 countries transforming million of lives every year. He said: "I want to help raise awareness and much needed funds for WaterAid so it can continue to provide clean water, safe sanitation, toilets and health education for some of the world’s poorest communities. It costs just £15 per head to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education and what better way to get support than to dress up in the iconic WaterAid toilet costume and attempt to break a bone-fide world record at the London Marathon."
Guinness World Records has set a benchmark so Marcus needs to run in under four hours otherwise his world record attempt goes down the pan.
Explaining the decision to back the potty attempt, Adam Houchen, director of AndyLoos, added: "We are incredibly fortunate here in the UK to have clean fresh drinking water on tap and access to water for sanitation and hygiene, and working at some of the country’s biggest events providing toilets and showering facilities we understand just how important this is. WaterAid provides such essential work in under-developed countries helping to improve infrastructure to ensure safe water, sanitation and education is available for the millions of people who struggle, and we are extremely happy to support them.” To get behind the world record attempt go to: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/toiletman
