WORCESTER Warriors rugby stars Jake Abbott & Shaun Perry were on hand at a special conference in Malvern to kick home the business message that cyber security should be taken seriously. They joined experts from Worcester accountants Sutcliffe and Co, regional law firm Harrison Clark Rickerby and Malvern technology specialists borwell to highlight the risks of cyber crime to small businesses.
The event was one of the first public seminars hosted by the new National Cyber Security Centre on Malvern Hills Science Park. The Centre has opened to deliver training to specific industry needs and supports businesses both small and large.
A recent UK government report showed that 87 per cent of small businesses and 93 per cent of large corporations reported a cyber-breach in the past year. A cyber-breach can cost £35,000 - £65,000 for smaller businesses and as much as £850,000 for large corporations.
The next seminar will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at the NCSC and can be booked by calling Debbie on 01684 585111.
