LAUNCHED last year, Worcester Asian Business Group is to hold its second networking event for Asian business professionals on Tuesday, April 1 at Pasha restaurant in St John's.

It will be hosted by regional law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys, and accountants Haines Watts.

The West Midlands has the largest Asian regional population outside London and it represents the largest minority in Worcestershire, including both employed professionals and self-employed business owners. "However, the views of this growing segment of the business community are often overlooked or problems are encountered when groups try to engage, "said Dina Parmar of Harrison Clark Rickerbys. "It is precisely as a result of this lack of engagement and recognition, that this networking group is so important for Worcestershire and the surrounding area. The first meeting in September last year was really successful, with a strong and determined desire to keep the momentum going and build on our fledgling group of attendees.”

As well as networking, those attending the event on April 1 will hear from a former Home Office representative Barry Hilyard, who will be discussing topical immigration issues and be on hand to offer advice for those who have previously encountered difficulties or need particular guidance.

Najma Qamar of Haines Watts, added: "Worcester can only benefit from a dedicated working Asian group. We hope to build on the numbers attending our inaugural event last year to form a committed group of professionals that meet twice a year. The group will aim to assist one another through challenges; provide a framework to develop business opportunities, and get to know the community. "

The group will meet at Pasha between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. The cost is £10 a head for a two course meal, drink and coffee. Visit www.hcrlaw.com/events to book a place.
