LOCAL family firm Reddlight Limited is witnessing the benefits of a move to new premises earlier this year as the new facilities has provided it with more space to expand production capabilities.
This has in turn resulted in an increase in sales volumes.
The company was assisted in the move with funding provided by NatWest Commercial Banking in Bromsgrove, part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
Reddlight Limited assembles gear trays and components for fluorescent lighting and LED technology used in road lights, signs and point of sale displays.
Established in 1991 the company has traded from Unit 4 Crossgate Road, Park Farm, Redditch, until earlier this year when it moved to new freehold premises at Unit 40 Upper Crossgate Road, Park Farm, Redditch. The premises provide the company with 14,500 sq ft which has enabled Reddlight to expand its production facilities and allowed it to meet the demand it has seen from customers in the UK.
Its customers are wholesalers, sign manufacturers, local authorities and construction companies who install road lighting and commercial signage.
New product launches for the commercial and industrial market in 2007 includes a solar energy panel and a LED bollard base.
The company is led by managing director Tony Concannon and a large proportion of the staff are family members.
Mr Concannon said: "We had wanted to move premises for quite a while and when the opportunity arose to purchase these new premises they provided us with exactly what we wanted.
"Our sales have grown impressively over recent years so we were facing pressure on our production capacity.
"The new site means we have upskilled the production capacity but more importantly provides us with additional space which means we can be aggressive in our sales strategy knowing that we have the physical space capacity to meet uplift in demand for our product range."
NatWest has been the incumbent bankers to Reddlight for a number of years and it has worked closely with Mr Concannon to ensure it provided him with the right flexibility in the company's debt package to ensure the purchase completed smoothly.
Lynne Snipe, commercial manager at NatWest, added: "Having worked with Tony for a number of years I was familiar with his plans for the business, so when this opportunity to purchase the premises in Crossgate Road arose we could react quickly.
"Reddlight has certainly benefited from the move and we look forward with interest to the further growth plans of Tony and his team."
The bank has recently also provided funding support to Mr Concannon's wife Gail in the purchase of a hairdressing salon in Aston Fields, Bromsgrove, which will also be run as a family business.
