HOME Office minister Vernon Coaker opened the British Security Industry Association's new premises at Kirkham House, John Comyn Drive, Worcester.
Welcoming Mr Coaker, David Dickinson, BSIA chief executive, said: I am delighted that the minister is able to join us to open our new premises.
At our annual lunch earlier this year, he praised the private security industry for its contribution to public safety. We appreciate his support for our vital, and often under-appreciated, industry.
The BSIA has been based in Worcester since the it moved to Barbourne Road from London in 1986. The move to Kirkham House for the BSIA and its 23 staff represents a new era for the association as it approaches its 40th birthday next year.'' Mr Coaker, parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Home Office, said: I congratulate the British Security Industry Association on this move, which will allow it to provide an enhanced service to members. This, in turn, will help to promote professional standards, ensuring better public safety. The industry is a significant business sector that is increasingly well trained and resourced.'' The BSIA will now be able to provide the following additional services to its members: meeting facilities for membership committees, meeting facilities for members, video conferencing facilities, extensive car parking, good access from the motorway and railway network, and new local-rate 0845 phone numbers.
