AFTER being made redundant when his employers closed their UK operation and moved to Belgium, Tom Ludwig took the plunge and opened his own business, viewing the future not through rose tinted spectacles, but reflective window film.
Mr Ludwig, from Droitwich, spent three years working for Solar Gard Saint-Gobain, which manufactures the film which is applied to glass to keep heat from entering a building, before the firm shut up shop and went home “The job market still isn’t great,” he said, “so rather than keep endlessly applying for jobs and claiming unemployment, I decided to utilise the knowledge I had built up over the previous three years learning everything there is to know about my product and set up on my own as Solar Sentry.
“It’s a fantastic product, but not many people know about it. “It would benefit so many people who can’t use their conservatories because it is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. “Support from my partner, family, friends and the local business community has been overwhelming and everybody is rooting for me to make a success of this.
“I’m hoping that the local schools and the council – which already widely use this product – will also be enthusiastic about supporting a local business.”
