A LEADING toilet rental firm, based in Worcestershire, is celebrating after success at the Loo of the Year Awards.
Andyloos Ltd, of Spetch-ley, Worcester, picked up five awards at the ceremony held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Bir-mingham, on Friday, December 8.
They won; the national category for mobile or portable toilets; the five star national quality award for mobile or portable toilets; the Eng-lish national winner for accessible toilet facilities; the special changing places award and the accessible toilet trophy.
The trophy was awarded to the company for producing the first portable unit for severely disabled people. The High Dependency Toilet Unit (HDU) is designed for people who can not get out of wheelchairs. It incorporates a fully automatic hoist which comfortably lifts the user out of the wheelchair into a height adjustable changing ben-ch. The spacious toilet also features easy access ramp.
Andyloos general manager Robert Limbrick said: "We're really pleased.
"We were the most successful company at the awards."
Mr Limbrick added that the portable HDU, of which there is only one, is ideal at large events and could feature as a permanent facility in big shopping centres.
He said: "It is very difficult for severly disabled people, who can not get out of their wheelchairs, to go out for long periods of time because there aren't any toilets specifically for them."
The Loo of the Year Awards, and associated Attendant of the Year Awards for cleaning staff, have been identifying the best toilets in Britain since 1987.
Every entry received an unannounced visit from inspectors and were judged on everything from signage and dcor to overall cleanliness and management.
