WORCESTERSHIRE'S Property Service has selected four lucky commercial agents to battle it out on the board of the new Monopoly Worcester edition and find out who is the region's top tycoon.

WPS asked commercial property agents to take part in the charity fund-raiser, with each donating £5 to Acorns Children's Hospice to enter their names into a draw.

The winners are Geoffrey Burcher, from Chivers Commercial, Lance Turner, of Harris Lamb, Worcester, John Goodwin, from Ledbury-based John Goodwin, and Peter Bingham, of Bingham & Co.

The quartet will now battle it out on the Monopoly board tomorrow.

The overall winner will not only collect a luxury weekend for two at Dormy House Hotel, Broadway, - recently named Small Hotel of the Year - but will also earn bragging rights as the region's top property tycoon. Second place will earn a bottle of champagne donated by Rosebank Wines Ltd.

Pat Prosser, from the WPS - the county council-run venue finder for businesses looking for their ideal premises - said: "We wanted to do something a bit different at Christmas this year, and as the Monopoly Worcester edition came out last month, we thought it would be great fun to see how expert property agents fared.

"We know they are a competitive bunch and it should be a highly enjoyable event. But there is a serious side to it and we want to raise as much money as we can for Acorns."

The game will be played at Acorns Children's Hospice, in Bath Road, Worcester, under the scrutiny of a panel of stewards from the Economic Development Unit at Worcestershire Council.

The new edition of Monopoly, featuring some of Worcester's leading landmarks including the Cathedral, New Road cricket ground and CrownGate Shopping Centre, was officially launched in the city last month.
