A LAW firm has donated more than £5,000 to a charity which supports people affected by sight loss.
Kidderminster-based mfg Solicitors handed over a cheque for £5,058.33 to Sight Concern Worcestershire following a discounted will-writing initiative which saw more than 100 people drawing up single wills for only £50.
The money raised will be used to back Sight Concern’s ongoing delivery of services across the county.
Laura Smith, assistant solicitor at mfg Solicitors who co-ordinated the campaign, said: “We saw more than 100 people during our latest discounted wills fortnight and they have gone away with peace of mind that their future affairs are in order. But, just as importantly, they have helped raise a lot of money for one of the district’s hardest working charities.”
She said the firm was keen to see the work the money would help, with the charity aiming to provide more support and give more aid to volunteers working with the group. The money will allow Sight Concern to give even more support to those who rely on them and their volunteers,” said Mrs Smith.
“The volunteers and support workers at Sight Concern undertake so much inspirational work behind the scenes to support people affected by sight loss. It’s a pleasure to have done our bit.”
Keith Hoare, fund-raising officer at Sight Concern, said the cash would prove vital in the charity’s on-going work to improve its services.
“The team at mfg Solicitors have once again gone above and beyond to help raise such a marvellous amount for the charity,” he said.
“The recent wills promotion was hugely popular and will give a great boost to many of our services across the county.”
The four-figure donation from mfg Solicitors is the second in as many years. The firm has now donated more than £11,500 to the charity through its Kidderminster wills initiatives.
