STUDENTS from the University of Worcester have returned from an archaeological expedition to the Sahara Desert.
Seven archaeology students travelled to south-east Morocco to carry out fieldwork on the remains of lost Foreign Legion forts.
The trip was part of the Legion Project, a six-year study of French Colonialism in Morocco being organised by Malvern-based expedition specialist Trailquest.
Project director Richard Jeynes said: “The students have undertaken an exciting expedition to a very remote part of Morocco. The chance to undertake real research in the challenging conditions of the Sahara will really benefit their studies and we were very impressed by their enthusiasm and work.”
